“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” 1 Peter‬ 5:8‬

Does this verse narrate a personal situation?

Do you feel like the enemy is circling? You may be pursuing Jesus, coming undone with your faith, seeing miracles…but tough circumstances seem to roar to life.

As I sigh over this verse and look back over the last few years…I can see the lion tracks. I can hear the roaring lion. I can even feel the fear of a roaring lion. At times, the roar is paralyzing.

Until, I remember the words of a shepherd boy:

“I fought a lion and a bear and the Lord delivered me!” (1 Sam. 17:37).

The shepherd boy, David, was up against a roaring lion called Goliath when he proclaimed those words. He remembered God’s protection, as he brought a giant to its knees. When you sense the lion and hear its roar, remind yourself of this important truth…God will protect you like he did that shepherd boy centuries ago!

So keep pursuing those God-given dreams.

Keep pursuing a Jesus who loves your heart. Keep loving those around you who need a personal connection. Keep speaking life into those tough circumstances. Watch God’s protection deliver you!
