I realized after my first year working on an elementary campus that I work in a cesspool of germs – I say that with a smile on my face. In one year I had five sinus infections from the month of August to December. It was at the end of December I realized I need to figure out a way to boost my immune system. So after a lot of researching on Pinterest I came across glowing reviews for the green smoothie and its health benefits. Although, there are numerous recipes, I went really simple:
1 cup of water
1 cup of frozen fruit
2 handfuls of baby spinach
sweetener if desired

I made a smoothie every morning from January-June and experienced great results. I lost a few pounds, my hair and skin were very healthy, I stayed sickness free – this included my seasonal allergies – which was a nice bonus. If you decide to start a green smoothie regiment, here are some tips to help you along:
1. Use disposable cups and straws – it is a pain to clean your cups every day.
2. Buy a Vitamix. I blew up my other blender in two weeks, you will need a high performance blender and there are none better than a vitamix. However, the vitamix is LOUD, it will sound like an airplane is landing in your house each morning.
3. You can freeze them for the next day if you decide to make them at night.
4. I would suggest drinking them around 3 times a week, otherwise you will burn yourself out.
